History and culture of Crikvenica
Crikvenica developed at the site of the roman travel station Ad Turres, and was the port for the towns of Vinodol region. The town name comes from a church of the Pauline Fathers monastery, build nearby in 1412. Crikvenica became an attractive tourist destination in the 19th century when the first hotel opened in 1891. In 1906. the town became a known health resort.
