History and culture of Korcula
Most well known town is the birthplace of Marco Polo, the town Korcula. Korcula is a town of long history, the Statute of Korcula was made in 13th century, and is one of the oldest oldest examples of legislation in Europe. This ancient fortified town surrounded by stone walls, similar to those of Dubrovnik () is located on a small peninsula and is very attractive to tourists. Town of Korcula and its inhabitants keep alive centuries old war games tradition called Moreska, these games are held every year on July 29, on the day of St. Todor.
