Poreč is a city of long history. At almost 2000 years old, it is located on the west coast of Istra between Lim Bay in the south and mouth of Mirna river in the north, protected by the island of St. Nikola.

1. Porec – Euphrasius basilica - The Euphrasius’ Basilica is the Cathedral of the Ascencion of Maria, but is because of Bishop Euphrasius, who built it, better known as the Euphrasius’ Basilica. The interior and façade of the church are made with glorious mosaics and belong to the most beautiful protected parts of the Byzantine art.

2. The Baredine cave - Nova Vas (Porec) - In the underground world of the Baredine Cave you can find a treasure of unique sculptures, stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands and thousands of years by the amazing play of nature. The Baredine Cave is a protected natural and geomorphologic monument, as well as the first caving site of Istria where, from this year on, you can see a historic exhibition of tractors, an exhibition on bread and oil, and a wine bar.

The city plan is based on structures of the so called roman castrum. Major streets: Decumanus and Cardo Maximus are conserved in their original form. Marafor is the major square with two historical monuments: one of them was built in the 1st century and was dedicated to the roman god Neptun. Some houses in Poreč were built in roman style, but there is also evidence of the gothic era with the palace Franciscan; furthermore, the church and center of the Istrian parliament show a baroque style. Euphrasius basilica from the 5th century, and expanded in the 6th century under the rule of byzantine bishop Eufrazij, is the major cultural monument in Poreč, which has been under the protection of
