ŠIBENIK: hotels and apartments in Šibenik (Dalmatia, Croatia)
Šibenik is the oldest native Croatian town on the Adriatic. Šibenik is located in central Dalmatia (hoteli dalmacija) between Zadar and Split, at the mouth of the River Krka (nacionalni park). Surrounded by three fortresses: St.Michael's, St.John's and Subicevac, the old part of the town consists of narrow and winding streets with stone made houses. Šibenik archipelago consists of hundreds of mostly uninhabited and unspoilt islands, islets and reefs.
CULTURE CENTER
In the center of Šibenik lies St. Jacobs (St. James) cathedral, the most valuable object in Šibeniks architectural heritage, which was added to UNESCO list of world heritage sights in 2001. Near St. Jacobs cathedral lie the town hall, a spacious renaissance building built in 16th century, and the Dukes Palace, today the Museum of the city of Šibenik.
The cultural trademark of Šibenik is the International Childrens Festival, with over 40 years of tradition and under full support of UNICEF and UNESCO.
TOURIST CENTER
The greatest resources of the Šibenik Riviera is crystal blue sea, Mediterranean climate, and hundreds of islands. In the close vicinity of Šibenik lie two beautiful national parks Krka and Kornati.
